About DeckCalc
DeckCalc is three deck tools in one: a cost calculator, a materials calculator and a 3D designer that all share the same numbers.
Why three-in-one? Planning a deck normally means three disconnected steps: a brand's design gallery for the picture, a spreadsheet or a guess for the materials, and a contractor's visit for the price. Each step uses different dimensions and different assumptions, so the numbers never match. DeckCalc starts from one set of dimensions and one pricing model, so the deck you see in 3D is the deck whose boards are counted and whose cost is estimated.
How the estimates are made. Costs are built bottom-up from 2026 US national averages: decking, framing, footings and hardware priced per square foot or per unit, railing per linear foot, stairs per step, and labor rates that vary with material and deck height. The result is a low–high planning range, shown with its full breakdown so you can see which line is doing the damage. It is an estimate, not a quote — region, site conditions and design detail move real prices, and the per-square-foot guide explains how.
Independent by design. DeckCalc is not run by a decking manufacturer or a lead marketplace. It does not sell your project details, and the tools run entirely in your browser — nothing you type or design is uploaded. A paid embed version for deck builders is planned (see pricing); the homeowner tools stay free.
